Bacardi rum has buried a huge time capsule as one of its final events in 2012, in a year-long celebration of its 150th year. The capsule, which measures 6ft x 1ft, is a custom made steel capsule with a granite cap ensuring that its contents will be safe until Bacardi’s 200th anniversary when the next generation of rum makers will open it.
Buried at the Bacardi headquarters in Bermuda, it is uncertain what the exact contents of the capsule are however we know that it includes nearly 500 photos of the Bacardi family, marketing materials taken from the 150th anniversary celebrations and items contributed from Bacardi staff from across the globe.
This has been a huge year for Bacardi with major promotional activities across the globe celebrating the brand’s longevity and continued success. If you want to toast them at home, why not check out our Bacardi cocktail recipes this Christmas and enjoy and enjoy a Crimbo Colada or Ho Ho Mojito.
