Last year Bacardi ran a series of global promotions to celebrate its 150th anniversary. It seems like not a month went by without a new party or promotion and although we thought the celebrations had ended it seems as though that was premature as another part of the promotion has just been rolled out – a series of three films celebrating the brands history.
The short films, in the ‘Our History is Unbelievable’ series are all Hollywood themed – paying homage to great films such as Singing in the Rain, Gone With the Wind and Alfred Hitchcock’s creations.
Each film represents a different aspect of the Bacardi brand, from the creation of the Bacardi Daiquiri, the Cuban freedom fight and the creation of the Bacardi Bat logo.
Speaking about the films, Heide Cohu, Bacardi’s Global marketing Excellence Director, said: “Sourcing period exact props, costumes and even the set location was crucial to creating the finished product.
“It wasn’t these elements alone that shaped the final product. Cameras used in Technicolor contain three dye processing, which gives the tone and colour texture in these movies. It is impossible to recreate this with a modern, high resolution camera. So post production effects were pivotal to creating an antique feel.”
