Ballantine’s whisky has created a new bottle that uses electroluminescent technology to bring the label to life – making the bottle glimmer in the darkness – wowing consumers, especially those in darkened bars and clubs.
The visual effect is created using a label that appears like any normal label, it is flat and discreet, but once the lights go out the label comes to life, giving a ‘pulsing effect,’ ‘like sound waves echoing the beat of music,’ explains Jo Saker who worked on the project.
Designed exclusively for the on-trade market, the new self-illuminating Ballantine’s whisky bottle is part of the brands “Leave an Impression” campaign which has seen Ballantine’s whisky create a number of illuminating t-shits that appeal to a younger clubbing generation.
The new look Ballantine’s whisky limited edition illuminating bottles will be available worldwide.
It isn’t the first time stunning visuals have been used by a brand to promote a limited edition bottle. In October 2012, Bombay Sapphire gin launched an exclusive gift box into the travel retail sector that lit up when lifted from a surface.
