Budweiser Black Crown, which was reported back in November, has finally been revealed with visuals and promotional material launched by Budweiser to let fans know more about the product which will be released on the day of the Super Bowl, February the 3rd 2013.
The recipe for Budweiser Black Crown was selected after expensive sampling, with 12 recipes tasted by 25,000 people across the country, each of whom gave their opinion of which should be selected for the crown.
What was chosen was a golden amber lager with a bland of two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops. The lager is then finished on a bed of Beechwood chips for a smooth, balanced taste.
Speaking about the success of the flavour, it seems as though the decision was unanimous, according to Rob McCarthy , vice president of Budweiser: “It didn’t matter where in the United States we asked, this is the beer that consistently drew the best feedback, and overwhelmingly so,”
Unlike many new beers, heritage is at the heart of Budweiser Black Crown. The 6% ABV lager, brewed by Brewmaster Bryan Sullivan, uses the same strain of yeast used by the founder of Budweiser, Adolphus Busch, originally used in 1876.
Speaking about his involvement, Sullivan said: “People respond really well to Budweiser Black Crown, which has a little more body and colour and a touch more hop character than our flagship Budweiser lager.
“As brewmasters we spend most of our time in the brewhouse. Project 12 gave us a chance to hear first hand from the people we brew our beers for. Budweiser Black Crown is a great beer and it is a thrill for our whole brewing team to see it launch with a Super Bowl spot.”
Just like last years Bud Light Platinum launch, Budweiser Black Crown is set to run an advert during the Super Bowl XLVII broadcast, which last year caused an instant hike in interest ready in anticipation for the new Bud drink.
Original Budweiser is still by far and away the number one selling lager in America.
