Tanqueray Malacca is due for re-release in February it has been announced. The spiced gin-based liqueur has previously been on sale in the US as a limited edition, but will now enjoy a full release in the US, UK, and throughout Europe.
40% ABV, Tanqueray Malacca is inspired by a recipe created by Charles Tanqueray dating back to 1839 and will give bartenders a new spirit to play with – the spiced Gin – opening yet another door to a large variety of cocktails.
Only available in trade venues, a limited run of just 100,000 bottles will be released into the aforementioned regions – so once it’s gone, it’s gone. With that in mind, if you see a Tanqueray Malacca creation at your local bar, drink it while you still have the chance.
Tom Nichol, Tanqueray’s Master Distiller who recreated the recipe, said: “In the years that I’ve spent with Tanqueray, I’ve spent an awful lot of great times with bartenders,” Nichol said in a recorded message published on YouTube (see video below). “They wanted this to be brought back. This is the time to bring it out again, give them something special to serve. They are going to produce some fantastic cocktails. I think this is my gift back tot hem to say thank you for all these years.”
Global Ambassador for Tanqueray, Angus Winchester, added: “Tanqueray Malacca is a gin like no other and it’s great to see it back in market. If you’re looking for something new and exciting to experiment with behind your bar you will find it in Tanqueray Malacca gin. A simple but great serve is the Tanqueray Pegu or try it out as a unique twist to a classic gin cocktail.”
To give Tanqueray Malacca a marketing boost, a series of official launch events have been planned in February in New York, San Francisco and London.
