Woodford Reserve whisky has created a special limited edition bottle to mark its relationship with the Kentucky Derby, following its status as the Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby.
The limited edition bottle features atwork by the famous Oregon painter Eric Bowman, whose creation depicts a sunny Kentucky Derby, featuring the track’s famous Twin Spires, and two horse racing each other neck and neck, capturing the excitement of what is known as America’s favourite and most famous horse race.
The neck band of the Woodford Reserve Special Edition Kentucky Derby whisky is sky blue with a reference to the 139th Kentucky Derby and Bowman’s signature. The bottles are also dressed with tags that contain information about Woodford Reserve whisky and Eric Bowman, creator of the image.
Speaking about the limited edition bottle, Laura Petry , Woodford Reserve Senior Brand Manager, said: “Eric Bowman ‘s iconic American style displays the rich detail of his subject with craft and patience. This philosophy made him the perfect selection as the Kentucky Derby 139 bottle artist.”
The commemorative litre-size Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby bottle will be available in 46 markets nationwide at a suggested retail price of $43.99.
Woodford Reserve has been the “Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby” for the past 15 years. It also sponsors a Grade I race, The Woodford Reserve Turf Classic, which runs on Kentucky Derby Day, May 4, 2013, and has become one of Thoroughbred racing’s premier turf events with a $500,000 purse.
